About Sandbanks Winery
Sandbanks Estates winery is situated along the picturesque shores of Lake Ontario, in the heart of beautiful Prince Edward County. In 2001, founder Catherine Langlois purchased the land & planted 5+ acres of Baco Noir, Cabernet Franc, Riesling, Pinot noir, Vidal, Geisenheim and Marechal Foch. Her vision was to produce quality, award winning wines at an approachable price that pair perfectly with delicious food. Sandbanks wines are meant to be shared in harmony with friends and family.
Sandbanks offers a tasting room and boutique, barrel room, unique tasting experiences, large outdoor picnic area and tasting bars with a season packed with lively events. A summer day at sandbanks is welcoming, relaxing, fun, and the perfect spot for your PEC wine country visit.
History
In 2001, Catherine Langlois purchased and planted 5+ acres of Vines. Her 1st harvest was done in 2003 where she produced 150 cases of Baco noir which she sold exclusively to restaurants and bars in the local area. In 2004, she opened a wine boutique in the basement of her home that she built on the property, following the first Harvest party in 2005. In 2007, PEC became a VQA designated area and in that following year, Sandbanks got their 1st listings in the LCBO, now over 16 brands at the LCBO and over 30 brands in total. Between the years of 2010-2017, Sandbanks Winery built and expanded their wine boutique, tasting room and added a private barrel room and tasting bar. In 2020, Sandbanks was then purchased by ARTERRA Wines Canada.
